Commencement
Six AGS teams continue on their journey to the top of the mountain where the true test begins.
And so, it ends. Say “goodbye” to fantasy football until next year if you didn’t clinch a playoff spot this season. Your long winter has begun. For those of us in Any Given Sunday who won’t be contending for the title, the sun won’t rise again until August when we announce our keepers and make pre-draft roster cuts. For me, Rebel Scum, another season ends without an AGS championship. It feels like it’s getting farther away from me. Is there anyone out there who understands my plight? Can any of you relate?
There are more guys in Any Given Sunday with championships than without, and this year, another AGS owner will earn another AGS title. Another bobblehead for the mantle and ring for your finger (if you are compelled to have one made). All six of the playoff bound teams in our league are former champions. Three of them are chasing their second title. Three are chasing their third, including New Jax City—who is trying to repeat as AGS champion, a feat that has only been done once before in our league’s seventeen-year history. Good luck to them.
West Koast Voodoo (VÜSSY) earned his team a name and logo change, which is nothing but an invitation to humiliation. Four other AGS teams will play in the consolation playoff, and the winner earns an extra keeper heading into next season. It ain’t the league title, but it’s a worthy consolation in a league where decisions can leave their mark on franchises for years.
If you made your fantasy football league’s playoffs, congratulations! Please enjoy this episode of the Any Given Sunday podcast.
