Misfits rock the soundtrack for ZOMBIE WARS.

Brewery: Beer Zombies Brewing Company (Las Vegas, NV)

Artist: Misfits

Beer: “ZOMBIE WARS” DDH Triple Hazy IPA (9.5% ABV)

Song: “We Bite”

Las Vegas craft beer has a heavy hitter in Beer Zombie Brewing Company. They make great beer, and their beer can labels are works of art. With “ZOMBIE WARS”, they have created a powerful hazy IPA elixir with galaxy hops double dried to make sure you can’t feel anything when the zombies start eating your flesh. We’re still a couple months away from Halloween, but it doesn’t need to be October 31st to pour a pint of this outstanding super hazy triple IPA that obliterates other hazy IPAs like the Death Star did to Alderaan (too soon).

What’s most appealing about “ZOMBIE WARS”, besides the 9.5% ABV sure to help me feel like I was floating off to a galaxy far, far away, was the way this beer walked the line between bitter and sweet. I thought I caught a hint of orange creamsicle in the finish, but I heard others say they tasted a blast of peach. It was so damn loud in the garage where I was drinking with my friend, Danish Dan. He has this thing where he likes to invites his friend (me) over to drink some beer, and he likes to play his music loud enough to wake the dead while we drink. We had “ZOMBIE WARS” for the tasting and a little punk rock for the listening.

Something magical happened when Misfits “We Bite” played. I was about 1/3 of the way into “ZOMBIE WARS” when this ditty about throat ripping and a longing desire for blood blew through the speakers. One and a half minutes of neck-snapping thrash. The zombies on the can label began slam dancing. Bones cracked. Teeth were lost. “ZOMBIE WARS” fueled the Misfits brand of horrorcore punk in the moment. It was perfect synergy even though I don’t recommend pounding “ZOMBIE WARS” in 90 seconds.

Glenn Danzig might be screaming about vampires biting people while the band thrashes through “We Bite”, but zombies bite people, too, and “ZOMBIE WARS” bite is infectious. The only cure for it is a 4-pack and a day off.
